When constructing the framework
- We use Douglas Fir
- Construction grade Redwood (common redwood) some knots and a bit of white sap wood
- Con-heart Redwood - (heart of the tree and a deep dark red color, much harder and longer lasting than common redwood)
- Clear Redwood - (Clear of knots)
If budget permits then we can upgrade to a hardwood such as Ipe, Mangaris or Teak.

Polycarbonate is one of the best and nicest looking roofing materials I have found.
It is very effective for cooling structures outdoors because of the air pockets
built in for insulation and it also sheds water.
It also works well for plexiglass fencing.
This type of patio covering will be much nicer than a tin roof or pro panel
because of the open feeling it gives by letting the light through.
