Sketches, Photos or matching the surroundings in the yard

- Sometimes it's nice to use the photos for inspiration and then design part of the elements from the surroundings in the yard or garden.
1. Below is a modern style pergola in West Hills, Ca.
- It was built around a concrete bench.
- We matched the schematic design given to us by the landscape designer.
- The total size was 12 ft deep x 8 ft tall x 16 ft wide and we constructed the entire pergola using clear redwood.
2. This was a rough sketch, drawn up by the client.
- It is a double sliding driveway gate in Venice, Ca 90291.
- One of the gates is a manual opening, the other has an automatic gate opener.
- Each gate is over 15 ft wide and 7 ft tall.
- There is also a smaller pedestrian gate with a small arbor over the top for support.
- The total length of this project was about 43 ft.
- The iron frame is first assembled along with the sliding track, then we installed the plexiglass and clear redwood.
3. This is a Spanish style house in Hollywood, Ca 90068.
- We took a look at the existing structure and then installed a deck with a few steps as well as 2 pergolas.
- We used 6 x 6 Doug Fir Posts, 2 x 10s for the headers and for the top we used 4 x 6s.
- The korbels on the ends of the beams were custom cut prior to installation.
- Once complete, this project had 3 coats of sealant.
